Jesus Is Our Sanctuary

The wilderness sanctuary was made for a reminder of the Sanctuary we have in heaven who is founded in Jesus Christ the Messiah. Without the sanctuary building Israelites faith and trust was weak.

Before the sanctuary was built the Israelites felt that God was to far away to be able to help them in times of need.

Even though they witnessed their own deliverance from Egypt and crossed the red sea on dry ground. They were very quick to forget.

Ex 25:8-9 "Let them construct a sanctuary for Me, that I may dwell among them. 9 " According to all that I am going to show you, as the pattern of the tabernacle and the pattern of all its furniture, just so you shall construct it. NASU knowing they had a sanctuary was to give them hope and trust that God was with them. The sanctuary did give them hope but they were still very quick to forget how God was their guide and protector who provided them with Water of life and Manna the bread of life in the wilderness. God even lead them by the cloud as a shade doing the day and a comforting evening light and heat throughout the evening and night so that they would not fear the darkness and chill of the desert night.

Ex 13:21-22 The LORD was going before them in a pillar of cloud by day to lead them on the way, and in a pillar of fire by night to give them light, that they might travel by day and by night. 22 He did not take away the pillar of cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people. NASU They seemed to look at the sanctuary as the source and not a reflection. In doing so it caused there dedication to God to be more on the forms of works rather than developing a relationship with the God of Heaven and Earth.

Every time they faced what seemed like an impossibility they would began to think God deserted them and they were going to die. Not stopping to consider how in every circumstance God was with them and delivered them.

1 Cor 10:6-12 Now these things happened as examples for us, so that we would not crave evil things as they also craved. 7 Do not be idolaters, as some of them were; as it is written, "THE PEOPLE SAT DOWN TO EAT AND DRINK, AND STOOD UP TO PLAY." 8 Nor let us act immorally, as some of them did, and twenty-three thousand fell in one day. 9 Nor let us try the Lord, as some of them did, and were destroyed by the serpents. 10 Nor grumble, as some of them did, and were destroyed by the destroyer. 11 Now these things happened to them as an example, and they were written for our instruction, upon whom the ends of the ages have come. 12 Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed that he does not fall.

Just after this warning God gives a hope in the sanctuary of Jesus! 1 Cor 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it. NASU

As soon a Adam and Eve sinned against God they were condemned to die because the result of sin is death which we all inherited from them. God promised a way of escape from sin with a unconditional promise. Gen 3:15 And I will put enmity Between you and the woman,

And between your seed and her seed; He shall bruise you on the head,

And you shall bruise him on the heel. NASU This promise was centered on Jesus and the sanctuary of hope we have in Him. But we all still have a choice of who we will serve.

Rev 2:5-6 Therefore remember from where you have fallen, and repent and do the deeds you did at first; or else I am coming to you and will remove your lampstand out of its place--unless you repent. NASU

Every thing about the Sanctuary is a example of all that is involved in the plan of salvation. The sacrifice of Jesus and His blood to redeem man from sin is formost. We see lost humanity through the example of the Israelites that is wondering in the darkness of sin. The very present of the sanctuary was a gift of hope and release from sin. Not just the Israelites but all nations kindred's and tonges that will humble themselves befor God and except Him as their savior!

After the sacrifice of the lamb that pointed to the Promised Lamb of God we move into the Holy department or place by the acceptance of the shed blood of Jesus. Heb 9:1-3 Now even the first covenant had regulations of divine worship and the earthly sanctuary. 2 For there was a tabernacle prepared, the outer one, in which were the lampstand and the table and the sacred bread; this is called the holy place. 3 Behind the second veil there was a tabernacle which is called the Holy of Holies, NASU

Jesus is the lamp-stand that of which shines the light of His Church through out the ages. As we commit our selves to Jesus and let Him control our lives we are granted the right of fellowship with Him, as He is the Light, the Living water and the Bread of life. We are blessed to see our united prayers going into the Most Holy Place.Ex 25:8-9 "Let them construct a sanctuary for Me, that I may dwell among them. 9 " According to all that I am going to show you, as the pattern of the tabernacle and the pattern of all its furniture, just so you shall construct it. NASU

Rev 1:10-12 I (John) was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and I heard behind me a loud voice like the sound of a trumpet, 11 saying, " Write in a book what you see, ...I turned to see the voice that was speaking with me. And having turned I saw seven golden lampstands; NASU

Rev 1:12-16 Then I turned to see the voice that was speaking with me. And having turned I saw seven golden lampstands; 13 and in the middle of the lampstands I saw one like a son of man, clothed in a robe reaching to the feet, and girded across His chest with a golden sash. 14 His head and His hair were white like white wool, like snow; and His eyes were like a flame of fire. 15 His feet were like burnished bronze, when it has been made to glow in a furnace, and His voice was like the sound of many waters. 16 In His right hand He held seven stars, and out of His mouth came a sharp two-edged sword; and His face was like the sun shining in its strength. NASU The Glory of Jesus is more than we can imagine or express. May we learn more and more of Jesus! He is represented as the Lamp Stand.

Rev 1:17-20 When I saw Him, I fell at His feet like a dead man. And He placed His right hand on me, saying, " Do not be afraid; I am the first and the last, 18 and the living One; and I was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of death and of Hades. 19 "Therefore write the things which you have seen, and the things which are, and the things which will take place after these things. 20 "As for the mystery of the seven stars which you saw in My right hand, and the seven golden lampstands: the seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands are the seven churches. NASU

Rev 22:16 I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things for the churches. I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning star." NASU Ps 23 The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters. He restores my soul; He guides me in the paths of righteousness For His name's sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You have anointed my head with oil; My cup overflows. Surely goodness and lovingkindness will follow me all the days of my life, And I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever. NASU

Rev 22:20-21 He who testifies to these things says, "Yes, I am coming quickly." Amen. Come, Lord Jesus. 21 The grace of the Lord Jesus be with all. Amen. NASU

May our prayer be:

"Oh, my best Friend, my Maker, my Lord, shape me and mold me into Thy divine likeness. Make me entirely like Thyself. Refine, purify, quicken me, that I may represent the character of God."
